SMG took over the Redlands, Monrovia and Downey sites from Krikorian Premiere Theatres in 2017, and started removing snack bars and adding in-theater dining which brought food directly to movie-goers in their recliner seats. The nationwide chain emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy in April and while its website reports theaters from Bakersfield to Pennsylvania are open, the four Southern California locations have disappeared from the company’s online listing all together. As coronavirus restrictions started relaxing this spring, patrons of Studio Movie Grill sites in Redlands, Glendale, Downey and Monrovia have likely been wondering when their local theaters will reopen.
